Our Campus in Use
Through The Eyes Of Our Students, Faculty, And Staff
17th & Girard. Mention that cross street to mostly anyone in Philadelphia and they will know the significance: it is the well-known home for St. Joseph’s Prep since the 1880s. Our location however is more than merely a place: it is a commitment to a mission; it is a central location to attract outstanding students from nearly anywhere in the Delaware Valley; it is an opportunity to be an anchor for our neighbors and city; and it is integral to who we are and what we do.

Profiles of Ignatian Educators
Our faculty are outstanding. Not only are they experts in their subject areas but they are also Ignatian educators who strive to develop the minds, hearts, souls, and characters of their young men, in and out of the classroom. Prep Teachers care about the whole student, not simply the person who sits in their classroom.

Ivan Bailey-Green ’24: Athlete & Artist
Outside of the Prep Community, many people know Ivan Bailey-Greene ’24 as a hard-working leader on the Football Team. During his time as part of our State Championship Football Program, Bailey-Greene was a hard-charging defensive lineman who always seemed to play bigger than his size.
However, many on campus know a different side to “IBG,” his artistic side. According to art teacher Kat Lee, Bailey-Greene is one of the top artists in the school.
Giving
Giving
The Prep is blessed to have many alumni, parents, and friends who support the school through major gifts to support scholarships and financial aid. Recently, two alums have made historic gifts to the school to allow access for well-qualified students to attend the Prep.

Who Do You Want to Benefit from Your Tax Dollars?
You have to pay taxes – why not designate them to Prep students? Your Pennsylvania taxes can provide financial aid for deserving young men at the Prep. Participants receive a 90% tax credit and may also receive additional tax benefits; making the cost to give a dollar less than a dime.

Mayor Michael Nutter ’75
In April, Hon. Michael Nutter ’75 was part of the 2024 class of inductees into the St. Joseph’s Prep Hall of Excellence. Nutter, who is serving his second term on the Prep’s Board of Trustees, was Mayor of Philadelphia for eight years after serving for two decades in City Council. In both positions, he proudly proclaimed his Prep Alumni status and emerged as one of the school’s most visible alumni.

The Class of 2024
Earlier this month, 214 members of the Class of 2024 were welcomed as cherish St. Joseph’s Prep Alumni after Baccalaureate Mass in the beautiful Church of the Gesu and then Commencement in Saint Joseph’s University’s Hagan Arena.
In his address to the class, President John Marinacci said, “You are the hands, feet, eyes, ears, heart, mind, and soul of the mission. Every action, choice, and deed you do will decide how our mission is executed in the world beyond 17th and Girard.”
Living Cura Personalis
An education at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School is based on cura personalis, the Latin phrase for “care for the (individual) person.” Our educators establish a personal relationship with students and adapt their teaching to each individual while encouraging them toward personal growth and challenging them to find excellence in all areas while finding God in all things.

Prep Nation Gatherings
Prep Legends Inducted into the Hall of Excellence
At a ceremony held on campus this spring, St. Joseph’s Prep celebrated the induction of the second class into its Hall of Excellence. Established in 2023, the Hall of Excellence honors those who have achieved greatness across many walks of life; and who are always committed to Ad maiorem Dei gloriam (AMDG). Using the letters AMDG, we celebrate alumni who excel in areas of Athletics, Mission, Distinction, and Generational Impact.
Prep Nation Gatherings
Throughout the year, special events occur that allow students, alumni, parents, and others to gather.
