Class of 2024

We were excited to celebrate the great Prep Class of 2024 and welcome them as the newest members of the St. Joseph’s Prep Alumni Association. On June 1 and 2, 214 members of the class and their families celebrated with Baccalaureate Mass in the beautiful Church of the Gesu and then Commencement in Saint Joseph’s University’s Hagan Arena.

In his address to the class, President John Marinacci said, “You are the hands, feet, eyes, ears, heart, mind, and soul of the mission. Every action, choice, and deed you do will decide how our mission is executed in the world beyond 17th and Girard.”

He closed with these words: “Know that we are proud of you, that we love you deeply, and that you will always be a son of Mother Prep. You will always have a home at the Prep.”

You are the hands, feet, eyes, ears, heart, mind, and soul of the mission.

The graduates will matriculate at some of the finest colleges and universities in the world. “The diversity of interests, backgrounds, academics, budgets, and paths found among our Prep seniors produce nuance and individualized outcomes,” says Kelly McGlynn, Director of College Counseling.

The Class of 2024 submitted more than 2,000 applications to 325 different institutions spanning 45 states and 5 countries. They plan to enroll at 92 unique universities in the U.S. and abroad.

The top 10 schools for the Class of 2024 are: Penn State, Saint Joseph’s, Scranton, Fairfield, Catholic, Villanova, Penn, Notre Dame, Maryland, Drexel, and Boston College.

While there are many familiar schools on the list, McGlynn says that “there are trailblazers embarking on a path all their own by attending institutions such as Flagler, MIT, Delaware State, Indiana, LSU, McGill, Queen’s Belfast, Oxford, Trinity Dublin, and San Francisco.”
